The sanctuary is the heart of any congregation’s building. It is used on Sunday mornings, often on Wednesday evenings, and throughout the week for funerals, baptisms, and private prayer. The cleaning standard for a sanctuary is higher than a commercial office, and the schedule is driven by the worship calendar rather than a Monday-Friday workweek.
What Sanctuary Cleaning Includes
- Pew or chair wipe-down (wood surfaces, cushions, and hymnbook holders)
- Platform and altar area sweeping and mopping
- Podium and communion table surface cleaning
- Floor care: carpet vacuuming or hard surface mopping throughout the nave
- Entry vestibule sweeping, mopping, and door glass cleaning
- Restrooms used during services: full sanitation, fixture scrubbing, supply restocking
- Pew bible and hymnbook straightening (organizational, not deep cleaning)
- Trash removal from pew and aisle areas
Scheduling note: most sanctuary cleans are Saturday afternoon so the space is ready before Sunday services. Early Sunday morning cleans are available if your congregation has multiple morning services. We confirm the specific schedule in the written scope before the first visit.
What We Do Not Assume
We do not move items on the altar or communion table without explicit instruction. We do not handle candles, vestments, or liturgical items unless you have asked us to and described exactly what that means. We work around what is in place.
